Tonewood
I sell tonewood for acoustic and electric guitarmaking to amateur guitarmakers and my professional colleagues and - in consult with the customer - wood for other stringed instruments.
There is nothing like looking at the source. That is not possible with all species of wood, but whenever I can I am able to keep prices relatively low. On a regular basis I am looking for wood throughout Europe. I consider it most important to only buy wood that has been carefully examined by myself. I exactly want to know what I am purchasing. Questions like : "When was the tree cut?", "How was it cut to pieces?" and "Which way has it been dried?" are of great importance. Therefore my motto in tonewood trade is : See, smell, touch, listen and inform yourself before buying.
So: if you want to build a guitar, be sure to know what material you purchase. In my shop you can make your own selection and, if you like to have some advice I will be happy to be at your service. There usually is a useful selection of guitar tops, sides and backs, necks, body blanks, headstock veneer, fingerboards and bindings in stock.
I work on appointment. If you make an appointment to visit my shop it is a good idea to already know what you are looking for. Ask in advance if what you are looking for is available and what the costs are.
Suppose you need something very special and I do not have it in stock, in some cases I might accept a requested search. Feasibility, search time and price are decisive factors. I usually succeed, but I cannot guarantee whether a specific piece of wood can be found.
