My name is Arne Hempenius. Since 1995 I am building and repairing guitars on a professional basis and I also sell tonewood. A deep interest in wood, woodworking and wood technology combined with a passion for guitars and music led me to choose this profession.

Wood is fabulous material and making musical instruments a marvellous profession. One uses slices of a dead tree that have grown for a lifetime and creates a musical instrument that once again will sound for a lifetime. There are species of wood that - because of their acoustical properties - are less suitable. And there are wood species that are highly priced for instrument making. Besides that, there are traditional views on guitarmaking and more experimental visions.

Good quality wood is not easy to find. I prefer to look for wood close at the source. 'On the edge of the forest', so to say. And I always personally select the wood.
